nest of words

i am finding words so inspiring this week!

following on from the 'lemons' print i posted earlier in the week,
i wanted to share these gorgeous posters i found over at humidity gifts & homewares.

how gorgeous adorning a wall in a little nest!
such precious words, its all you want for your little ones, especially to host a tea party!

i just love these words, it will be perfect to hang in my boys playroom..

i have posted my own take on the tramscroll posters before, but here again is my own canvas of 'words that tell a thousand pictures', some of the many places i have been fortunate to travel & each time i take a peek i see a different place & with that one word it brings back a thousand pictures!

what words would you fill your nest with to inspire you this week?x

little nest by the sea

before
nests been!
with a theme for a little nest by the sea we could go crazy with anchors & buoys & ships & sand!  instead we chose to keep it clean & simple surrounding all walls with an amazing blue
{dulux deluxe days half} with freshwhite trim just like we are under water
& white furniture with easy reach access for fun play.

the theme came together with some simple inexpensive wall styling - for a fishing net to catch the gorgeous wooden starfish we used a white hammock for $9.  we found an old fishing rod for $1 at the markets which we painted red & added some line... & look we caught five fish!
the canvas above the cot is our own nest creation using the elements from the beach -
sand, coral, shells & driftwood.
the trend of coral letters is by my gorgeous & extremely creative friend Jo who does
some amazing pieces herself.
i have shared our nest  'footprints in the sand' creation before but here it is again as an
example of easy & effective wall art using just a little bit creative thinking.

there can never be enough places to hang your hats - a piece of driftwood with dow pegs with
a shell glued to the end of each one is a perfect fit in a little nest by the sea.

we would love to hear from you if you would like more information on our little nest styling
services or a commissioned piece of art for your bare wall by the sea.

'a moment between moments'..

how i would love this bright happy painting on my wall to stop & take a moment to glance at each day, & quiet appropriately this painting is called 'a moment between moments'.

amazing acrylic canvas paintings of audrey hepburn by sarah ashley longshore exhibiting at the gallery orange in LA.  unfortunately not close by at all to take a visit & appreciate in real life!

there is something about the grace of audrey, but there is something about the stories & use of brilliant colours in these paintings that i am loving & find very inspiring.

take a moment peek - (online too if your also not close by!)

footprints in the sand

i took a photograph of my family's footprints in the sand at the stunning Rainbow Beach with the intention of having it printed on canvas.  however the size i wanted it to be was going to be too expensive, so in true nest style i got creative!  i had the photograph enlarged to 60x30 inches in a matt finish as a gloss print would have been too reflective.  i glued it to the centre of a 90x60in canvas. marking with tape a one inch border i glued the entire outside area (edges included) & sprinkled clean sand over the glue to create an effective frame for the photo! i applied the glue with a paint brush as i wanted an uneven rippled sand effect but if you wanted to keep it smooth you could use a spray adhesive for an even effect. a special memory of a family walk in the sand hanging on my wall!

a word tells a thousand pictures..

this canvas piece was created by our nest stylist for a nest client - a recreation of the popular black & white tram-scroll that has taken the interior world by storm.  labeled 'a word that tells a thousand pictures' - a play on words from the saying 'a picture tells a thousand words'.  this is a creation of most of the places our clients have been fortunate enough to see & enjoy in their travels.  a simple concept with amazing affect - words that give a thousand pictures to remember!

please contact us at nest to create a wall of words that tell your picture, price on application.
