cleaning the nest..

do you have a cleaning 'routine' in your nest?
perhaps you clean on an as needed basis, or way past needed basis!
perhaps you have a set cleaning day, or maybe you have someone else do it for you?!

i have a hate-love bug with cleaning - hate to clean, love the end result!
i guess i am not alone, tho i do know people that love to clean!

my cleaning is usually done in bits & pieces here & there as needed, & sometimes i admit
way past needed.  i felt i was cleaning to no avail most of the time, so since school started
back i have tried to bring some routine to my weeks, scheduling thursdays as my
'must clean the nest' day - a power clean where i get everything done in one hit
- & i have been loving an entire clean nest at once, well until school is out at least!

but, today is thursday & it has been one of those days where i have found way more
important things to do than clean! fancy that!

i love this image i had in my files, could not be more relevant for me today!

oh, at times i wish the magic cleaning fairy would fly thru my nest &
sprinkle the 'magic clean' in each room!
maybe you can relate?

bed bath & table - linen sorted!

a change in season is a perfect time to get your nest sorted!  rearrange your cupboards & rediscover items you haven't seen in a long time, freshly launder blankets & clothes that haven't been used for months & bring the sparkle of organised energy back into your home.

as autumn is upon us it is the perfect time to launch our new blog topic - nest sorted!

helping to organise & sort your nest is a styling service offered by nest interior styling - if you don't have the time or the desire to even think where or how to begin nest can help reorganise your cupboards & even help you plan your garage sale!

the first nest sorted! topic is a little tip in helping sort your bed bath & table linen.  we have just helped a happy client sort her linen cupboard, she was amazed to find her matching pillowcases & to open the doors & not have things fall out at her! sound familiar?!

                                               before nest
nest's been!

nest uses a few experienced tricks & tips in styling & keeping a linen cupboard sorted, a list of which we give you upon your nest sorted! consultation.  as it is a new season & this is a new blog topic nest is happy to share one of our tricks with you - how to successfully fold a neat fitted sheet!  fitted sheets can be one of the most frustrating items in our linen cupboard, we usually roll it into some kind of odd shape that will stuff perfectly into a spare gap in the shelf, giving nicely scrunched crinkles - sound familiar again?!

these straight forward steps are a great example of how to sort your fitted sheets of any size:

1 - lay the fitted sheet on a bed or table is easiest, with the elastic facing up

2 - match up the corners - turn the two bottom corners (C & D) inside out
                                       - tuck corner C into A matching the corner seams together
                                       - tuck corner D into B matching the corner seams together
                                       - neaten the corners and edges to make a nice rectangle

3 - fold the fitted sheet in half from left to right (of vice versa), making sure to hide the elastic

4 - now fold the fitted sheet into thirds forming a long rectangle

5 - now fold the fitted sheet into thirds from left to right (or vice versa) creating a square

fitted sheet sorted!  now neatly folded it can be easily stored with your other sorted bed bath & table linen!

take the time or have nest help you to get your nest sorted!
