in determining the look our clients are wanting to achieve & learning their needs and wants, we suggest the best starting point & way in which to work out your personal style, likes & dislikes is to start a 'look book' or 'moodboard'!
go crazy filling a scrapbook or board with cut outs from magazines & catalogues, pictures from the internet & books of places or settings, words or sayings you love, colours that make you feel something or a colour combination in a dress or picture that stands out to you, photographs of a place you like being or something you like doing, patterns you enjoy looking at, shapes of objects, flowers you adore. use some physical samples that will help create the feel you like such as swatches of fabrics, a collectable piece you love the shape or texture of, even a feather! they don't need to be specific choices just things you love the look & feel of. inspiration can be found everywhere!
create a 'look book' |
have a separate book or folder for each room you are looking at changing. this will help to define the look you want to achieve in each room. it may not all seem to fit together & become confusing for you as to what to do next in making it all a reality, but it is a fantastic starting tool.
